01Scope and developer

This Privacy Policy applies to Nova for Android, package com.scriptnight.nova, developed by ScriptNight. It describes Nova for Android: local AI chat, selected attachments, local history, optional voice and recordings, exports, Nova Pro purchases, and optional response reports. No user-created ScriptNight account is required.

This Android application is separate from the desktop Nova project described elsewhere on ScriptNight.com. Visiting the website or using its Open Channel is covered by the website privacy policy.

02Your conversations and attachments

Nova uses your messages, a limited window of recent conversation, and selected attachment content to generate replies on your phone. It does not automatically search your other conversations or read your email, contacts, SMS, notifications or files from other apps.

Conversation text, replies, drafts, conversation titles, timestamps, attachment names, context selections and preferences are stored in app-private Android storage. Imported photos are resized and saved locally. Selected PDF pages are rendered to local images; supported text files retain a limited excerpt. The original file in the location you selected is not deleted by importing it.

Turning an attachment off for AI context does not delete it from storage or remove earlier discussion of it from the transcript. Local information is used to provide chat, history, previews, context management and exports. ScriptNight does not operate a cloud conversation-sync or AI-inference service for this build.

03Local AI and Google services

Nova uses Google’s ML Kit Prompt API and Android AICore to run Gemini Nano on supported phones. Google states that ML Kit processes the supplied input and generated output on the device and does not send that content to Google servers. This includes the text and image content supplied for AI processing.

Initial model setup may need internet access. Android and Google services manage model downloads, updates and compatibility information independently of Nova’s conversation storage. After setup, replies can be generated offline while the required model is available. Device support, usage limits and battery limits apply.

LOCAL AI // Local processing of conversation content does not mean that Google’s SDKs and system services exchange no technical information.

Read Google’s ML Kit Terms & Privacy and Google’s AICore information.

04Google diagnostics and your choices

Google documents ML Kit collection of device and app information, identifiers, performance and error information, API configuration, feature versions, event types, configured languages, and input/output sizes. GenAI disclosures include user, device or other identifiers and installation identifiers. Google uses these metrics for diagnostics and usage analytics; its terms also describe maintenance, improvement and misuse detection. This technical information is distinct from the actual message, document or image content processed locally.

Google states that documented ML Kit collected data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. See the ML Kit Android data disclosure and Google Privacy Policy for details.

Android provides a Usage & diagnostics setting. Google states that turning it off does not control information apps may collect. Nova does not offer or promise a switch that disables all Google ML Kit or AICore telemetry. Review Google’s explanation of this setting.

Nova has no advertising SDK or separate ScriptNight-operated automatic analytics or crash-reporting service in this build. Google’s SDK and system-service practices are separate from that statement.

05Optional voice and microphone

Microphone permission is requested when you choose to start voice input. You can use typed chat without granting it. Nova uses Android’s on-device speech-recognition API when available and does not fall back to a cloud recognizer. Spoken replies use installed voices marked as offline.

During an active continuous voice session, Nova pauses listening while it speaks and can listen again afterward until you stop the session. Leaving the chat or backgrounding the app ends the voice session. Nova does not save raw microphone recordings; recognized words become normal chat text and can be stored in conversation history.

Recognition and speech playback are provided by your phone’s speech services. Their software, language downloads, settings and diagnostics are governed by their providers. The keyboard you choose also has its own data practices. You can revoke Nova’s microphone permission in Android settings.

06Exports, sharing and response reports

Nova can create PDF, text and CSV conversation exports locally. When you choose Copy, Save or Share, the clipboard, selected receiving app, storage provider or recipient can receive the selected contents. Filenames, timestamps, attachment descriptions or diagnostic metadata may be included depending on the export. Review an export before sending it. Exported transcripts are not automatically redacted.

Opening a file through a cloud-backed document provider, or saving or sharing to one, may involve that provider’s internet services. Copies outside Nova are governed by the recipient or provider and remain outside Nova’s control.

Nova can save response-report drafts on the phone. Reports are sent to ScriptNight only when you explicitly choose Send. A draft contains the selected Nova reply, a reason, any comment you enter and app-version/report metadata. Including the preceding message is optional and off by default; attachment contents and the full chat are not automatically included. These drafts are separate from conversation history.

Saving a local draft is not a submission. Sending a report requires an internet connection and shares the content you choose to submit.

Optional direct reporting: Choosing Send transmits the report you preview: its ID, creation time, app version, selected reason, flagged response, optional comment, and preceding prompt only if included. Other chat messages, documents and photos are not attached automatically. The service uses Firebase Authentication's anonymous identifier and, when enforced for Firestore, Firebase App Check to verify requests and limit abuse; no user-created ScriptNight account is required. Google infrastructure necessarily receives connection information when sending.

Submitted reports are stored privately in Google Cloud Firestore for ScriptNight Owner/Admin review. Internal review notes, status changes, reviewer identity and timestamps are also recorded. Reports are retained for investigation and follow-up until manually removed or deletion is required; there is no automatic report-deletion schedule. A private receipt contains the originally submitted content so the same anonymous installation can confirm a retry without accessing internal review notes. A per-identity daily counter limits new submissions. Receipts and counters remain stored until removed. Report content is not used for advertising. Deleting a local draft does not retract a submitted report. For deletion requests, use the Nova data deletion page and include your report ID if available; do not send an entire conversation.

07Permissions and security boundaries

Nova requests microphone access for optional voice input. It does not request location, contacts, SMS, camera or broad file-library access in this build. Photos and documents are selected through Android’s picker or explicit sharing from another app. Links you choose to open use your browser.

Chats use app-private storage and Android’s device-security protections. This build does not add its own database/file encryption layer or biometric app lock, and it does not prevent screenshots. It should not be treated as a password vault or a guarantee against someone using your unlocked device.

Nova disables standard app backup and configures exclusions for Android backup and device transfer. Platform and manufacturer behavior can vary. It provides no own cloud backup or automatic synchronization. Keep exports you need, and protect those copies separately.

No storage or processing system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device, screen lock, selected keyboard and speech services, and any files you export.

08Retention, deletion and your control

App-managed conversations and preferences remain until you remove them, clear Nova’s storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. Deleting a conversation removes its database records and attempts to remove its associated imported attachment files. This is ordinary deletion, not a promise of forensic secure erasure.

Deleting a conversation does not automatically delete separately saved response reports, cached exports, clipboard copies, the original source document, or files already saved or shared outside Nova. Delete saved response reports separately in the app. Temporary export copies may remain in app cache until the system clears them or you clear the app cache/storage. Delete external copies through the app or provider holding them.

Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes app-managed local data; it does not erase information held by Google, your website-support conversation or an external recipient. ScriptNight has no cloud Nova conversation database to retrieve for you. Google handles its service data under its own policies.

Production builds do not save detailed model prompt/response debugging traces. When opening the main app after an upgrade, Nova attempts to remove traces saved by earlier builds. Development builds may retain these traces locally for debugging, limited to seven days, forty files and eight MB in total, with a one MB per-file limit. Diagnostic timings and technical status information may still be stored locally. Explicit response reports and conversation history are separate from these traces.

09Support, store services and other recipients

If you contact ScriptNight through Open Channel, the information you choose to send is processed under the website privacy policy. Do not send passwords, payment details or an entire private conversation when a short description will do.

If you obtain Nova through Google Play, Google handles downloads and related store activity under its own policies. ScriptNight may receive store-provided installation and technical reports through Play Console. Nova has no advertising or subscription integration. Nova Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase handled by Google Play Billing. Nova queries purchase status, verifies purchase information and acknowledges completed purchases to unlock Pro features and support restoration. Google processes payments under its own policies; Nova does not ask for or store your payment-card details. Purchase and restoration checks require communication with Google Play. ScriptNight may receive sales and transaction information through Google Play Console.

ScriptNight does not sell local Nova conversations or use their content for advertising. Data you deliberately share to another app or submit to support is subject to that destination’s practices. Google determines the processing and retention of its own service data under its policies.

10Policy changes and privacy contact

ScriptNight will update this policy when Nova’s features or data practices change. The updated policy and date will be published at this address. This policy describes data handling; it is not a blanket consent to unrelated future collection.
